QUETTA: At least one person was killed while several others sustained injuries in a blast in Quetta’s Kandhari Bazar on Saturday, according to police officials.
According to details, the blast was caused by explosive material fitted on a motorcycle. A Counter-Terrorism Department spokesperson claimed that many vehicles had been damaged in the blast.
The spokesperson further said security forces had cordoned off the area where the blast had occurred and were collecting evidence from the site.
He added that terrorist organisations disturbing the peace of Balochistan will be dismantled, adding that the supporters and facilitators of terrorist organisations will be prosecuted in courts of law.
The rescue officials have arrived at the scene and the injured have been moved to the hospital. Civil Hospital Quetta spokesperson has confirmed the death of one person and said 10 others were brought to the hospital in injured condition.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has taken notice of the incident and issued directives for the provision of best possible medical treatment to the injured.
In a statement, he stressed the need for improving security measures in the city and assured that all required steps would be taken for the protection of people’s lives and properties.
He directed the IG Police to boost up security in the province to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. He also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims.
