CM Balochistan to meet PM Imran Khan as political crisis deepens

ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has arrived in Islamabad to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan as the political crisis deepens in the province.

Balochistan Awami Party’s (BAP) disgruntled lawmakers and their allies have filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan. They also appointed Zahoor Buledi as interim president to challenge his authority.

CM Jam Kamal Khan is expected to meet PM Imran Khan today on Thursday to discuss the political situation of the province and no-confidence motion tabled against him by disgruntled BAP lawmakers and coalition parties. The chief minister is also expected to meet several other senior political leaders.

On Tuesday, Balochistan Governor Syed Zahoor Agha also met with Prime Minister Imran Khan over the no-confidence motion tabled against Chief Minister Jam Kamal. The governor discussed the political developments in Balochistan and would decide on summoning the Balochistan Assembly session after consultations in Islamabad.

Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak also held a meeting with the Balochistan interim president Zahoor Buledi and other Balochistan MPAs in Islamabad and discussed the recent political crisis in Balochistan.

According to reports, Khattak told the disgruntled Balochistan lawmakers to resolve the issues amicably. However, they told the defence minister they would accept only accepted a “minus Jam Kamal” solution.

Balochistan Assembly Speaker Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Manzoor Kakar, Senator Kauda Babar, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Naseebullah Bazai, and other MPAs were also present in the meeting.

It is pertinent to mention here that BAP disgruntled lawmakers and their allies in the coalition government had filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on October 11.

The no-confidence bill has signatures of 14 provincial lawmakers and has has submitted to the Balochistan Assembly secretariat. The lawmakers said that the chief minister had failed to deliver during his three-year tenure and addresses the problems of the province.
