ISLAMABAD: At least 58 more people succumbed to the coronavirus across the count in the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide death toll to 9,874.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 1,853 new cases of infection surfaced in the past day taking the total number of cases to 471,335. The positivity ratio of cases was recorded at 5.56 percent during the period after 33,270 samples were tested.
A further 2,282 patients are under treatment in various hospitals in critical condition. A total of 1,643 patients recuperated from the disease over the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recovered patients to 422,132.
Sindh has reported at least 812 new coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 210,241. Sven more people succumbed to the deadly virus as the death toll surged to 3,469, whil682 more patients recovered from the disease, lifting the total to 187,035.
Punjab has reported 135,665 cases so far and 3,900 deaths. There are still 9,997 active cases in the province while 121,989 have recovered so far.
Punjab health department has constituted Rapid Response Teams at tehsil and district level to locate coronavirus positive patients and shift them to hospitals for treatment. These teams will also ensure Corona tests of people found with symptoms of virus infection.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 57,215 cases and 1.602 deaths, while there are still 4.061 active cases. Balochistan has recorded 18,075 cases and 182 deaths but still has 307 active cases. Islamabad has reported 37,117 cases, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 8,172, and Gilgit Baltistan 4,850.
