At least six people were killed while 10 others injured after a three-storey building located on the Grand Trunk Road in Punjab’s Jhelum collapsed due to a gas cylinder explosion on Sunday.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hassan Tariq, five bodies had been recovered and shifted to the Jhelum District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital along with the 10 injured.
Tariq added that four to five people were still believed to be under the rubble and rescue efforts were under way to save them.
In a tweet, the Jhelum police said District Police Officer Nasir Mehmood Bajwa was supervising the rescue efforts while heavy machinery was being used to remove the debris.

On Saturday, seven people were killed while 14 others injured after a vehicle’s gas cylinder exploded near the Government College of Commerce in the Sargodha’s Bhalwal tehsil.
According to a statement issued by Rescue 1122, of the total, seven critically injured were rushed to the Bhalwal Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
The bodies, of which five could not be identified, were also shifted to the same hospital.
Rescue 1122 had received a call at 8:35am, and their response time was seven minutes with nine ambulances.
