KARACHI/LAHORE: After more than 24 hours, Power supply to all areas across the country couldn’t be restored as yet despite repeated claims by government ministers and political leaders.

A spokesperson for the federal energy ministry claimed on Tuesday morning that following gradual restoration, the situation in the country had been completely improved following the massive breakdown on Monday morning.
However, reports gathered by MM News revealed that neither in Karachi, nor in Lahore the electric supply could fully be restored as residents from Bahadurabad, Dhoraji, Manzoor Colony, Model Colony, Qayyumabad, Korangi and Landhi reported that had run out of USP back up and water supplies due to power outage that was going on for more than 24 hours.

In Lahore, locals reported that after partial restoration of power supply to some areas, residents were shocked to learn about no electric supply Tuesday morning. When contacted by media and other segment of society, relevant quarters termed the outage as ‘load management’.
Pakistan had suffered one of its longest ever outages following cascading shutdowns from a fault originating in the National Grid at the Guddu Power Plant on Monday morning.

Power utility responsible for supply of electricity to Karachi, the Karachi Electric (KE) last night said that they were working to restore power, and hope that most residential and commercial areas of the megalopolis will be energized by midnight, though complete restoration of power – including to industrial units – was not expected until much later in the night or even up to Tuesday morning.
