According to reports gathered from multiple local media sources, the cause of the accident was a technical/mechanical problem with the bus coming from Khamis Mushait Governorate, as a result of which it hit a bridge railing before falling into the gorge and catching fire. The passengers remained trapped inside the ill-fated bus.
According to Saudi media, the injured were transferred to Asir Central Hospital and Abha Private Hospital, after the Civil Defense teams, the Red Crescent and the security authorities inspected the site of the accident, which occurred last afternoon.
