LAHORE: The entire Chah Miran Bazaar in the Makhan Pura area of Lahore was sealed on Friday after 17 people were tested positive for COVID-19.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner, Danish Afzal said that troops from the Army, Rangers and Police had been deployed around Chah Miran Bazaar. The area is completely sealed and no one is allowed to exit or enter there.
Afzal added that the samples of more than 50 people were collected after a complete lockdown in the area which had been sealed.
He further said that the district administration had distributed ration among 70 families and the entire area had been also disinfected.
According to police sources, a man was tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from Spain, police added the man not only affected his family members but also a prayer leader.
The worst-affected Punjab province has the number of 2,279 coronavirus cases. As many as 16 patients have died in the province so far while 34 have recovered.
Meanwhile, the provincial health minister Yasmin Rashid said that the officials are trying level best to control the spread of COVID-19.
She said the health officials are extracting plasma from the blood of recovered patients after testing them twice as protective steps. She further said that the lockdowns seem the only useful way to stop the rapid spread of the COVID-19.
