KOHAT: At least 17 children died when a boat carrying 25 passengers capsized in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tanda Dam lake on Sunday.

Officials said 17 bodies had so far been recovered from Tanda Dam lake, near Kohat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. All of them aged between seven and 14-years.
Officials said a few children had been rescued from the water, with six in critical condition. The boat was carrying between 25 and 30 students on a daytrip from a local madrassa when it overturned.

They added that seven ambulances, four boats, two recovery vehicles and more than 40 personnel of Rescue 1122 were participating in the search operation, which is under way.
