Jhado: More than 1500 flood-victims in Jhado have been forced to live under the open sky, and makeshift camps on the flooded roads in the aftermath of unprecedented floods that wreaked havoc across Pakistan affecting 33 million people.
“We are living on the roads under the open sky,” flood-affectees told MM News reporter, who along with NGO Youth Unity, visited the relief camp set up by the Youth Unity in Jhado, “Not a single government agency provided us relief.” They added.
The flood-affectees said water-level was their main problem at the moment as houses have been flooded.
“How could a person who earns Rs300 per day would arrange Rs200,000 for house rebuilding,” one flood-victim asked.
They appealed the government to help them rebuild their houses.
Since the whole area is flooded, the only way to earn a living is transporting people through a boat, so some people are trying to earn a living while also providing transportation for the stranded people.
The continuous increase in water-level in the area has put the only road at risk of being flooded that has been providing a camping place for the stranded flood-affectees.
Jhado flood-hit people urged the Sindh government to arrange a temporary accommodation for them.
