RAWALPINDI: Twelve terrorists of the banned outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat area, the military’s media wing ISPR said on Wednesday.
According to ISPR statement, security forces and the terrorists exchanged fire late Tuesday night during which the militants were killed.
“Terrorists’ movement and activities were being watched by intelligence tentacles for the last one week. Terrorists were lured in by providing a vehicle for escape that was intercepted and neutralised,” the ISPR said.
Weapons, ammunition and Afghan currency were also recovered from the terrorists during the operation, it stated, adding that security forces were carrying out a clearance operation in the area.

According to information gathered by MM News from local sources, security establishment was tipped off about the presence and movement of members of TTP militants from Lakki Marwat to Tank for some activity. The official said an ambush party of army and police intercepted the convoy of terrorists.

“An exchange of fire took place between the security personnel and terrorists. The forces hit the pick up of the terrorists with rocket, killing all the 12 terrorists,” the official said late Tuesday night. He added all the security personnel remained unharmed.

The official continued the group was involved in many terrorist incidents in Lakki Marwat and had killed six policemen in the district in December last year.
