ISLAMABAD: The federal education authorities have successfully converted 100 schools in Islamabad to solar energy, marking a significant advancement towards sustainable energy within the education sector.
The initiative was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and the National Radio Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC).
Launched in August 2024, the project aimed to solarize 100 schools located in rural areas of Islamabad.
As part of this initiative, backup battery systems have also been installed to guarantee a continuous power supply.
Federal Secretary of Education, Mohyuddin Wani, emphasized that this achievement underscores our dedication to excellence, sustainability, and innovative approaches.
The implementation of solar panels is expected to diminish the carbon footprint while providing a dependable and eco-friendly energy source for educational institutions.
Mohiuddin Wani further noted that although this year’s initiative focused on 100 schools, there are plans to transition the remaining federal educational institutions to solar energy in the upcoming financial year.
