He also recalled Prime Minister Imran Khan as saying that “if a person has been named rightly or wrongly in any inquiry he should cease to hold any public office till his name has been cleared of charges.”
“This time the inquiry should be done by capable personnel, I endorse a judicial inquiry,” Bukhari said, adding, “I’m here to stay in Pakistan and stand united with the Prime Minister and his vision. I am ready to face any inquiry.”
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Imran ordered a full-fledged inquiry into the RRR project scam after which the Punjab government decided to send the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) or the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for thorough investigation.
Meanwhile today (Monday), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Javed Iqbal ordered the anti-corruption watchdog to look into alleged corruption, irregularities and illegal requisition of land in the project.
The NAB chief directed for an impartial, merit-based and transparent inquiry, according to a NAB statement. He asked the anti-graft body to identify those responsible so that they could be brought to justice.
