ISLAMABAD: US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has praised Pakistan’s role for supporting the Afghan peace process.
Zalmay Khalilzad visited the foreign office today where he held important discussions with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. During the meeting matters related to mutual interest including the Afghan peace process were discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, the foreign minister said that Pakistan firmly believed that the Afghanistan issue could not be resolved through force.
According to Qureshi, Pakistan will continue to play its positive role in peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The US and the Afghan Taliban were close to striking a deal last month but President Donald Trump pulled out of the peace process, citing insurgent group’s continued attacks against the American forces.
