YouTube is reportedly testing an online game offering that could give users the ability to play games on desktop and mobile devices.
The company is adding a new “Playables” section on the site that will include games that can be played on both the desktop website and mobile devices.
Playables will only appear for “a limited number of users to start,” and there was no list of game titles published at this time.
According to 9to5Google, Stack Bounce is one of the new YouTube Playables experiment’s games. In this game, a 3D ball bounces on top of rings, which you must break through with precisely timed clicks. The reason you may be familiar with the game is that Google already has it available on its minigames service, GameSnacks.
To check if you’re included in the games experiment, look for a new “Playables” section on YouTube alongside content on the home feed.
By bringing games to YouTube, another type of entertainment will join short-form videos, movies, video game streaming, music, TV services, podcasts, and other forms already present on the platform.
YouTube isn’t the only streaming video platform dabbling in gaming. Netflix is making its own push into video games, and social media app TikTok also has games available for a limited users.
