KARACHI: A 19-year-old youth was severely injured after firing by police in Sohrab Goth area.
Police had received a tipoff over the presence of criminals in the area. The policemen in plains clothes opened fire and a young man was caught in the crossfire and suffered severe injuries.
Station House Officer (SHO) Soharab Goth Riaz Hussain Bhutto said that Saudabad police conducted the raid and opened fire which severely injured Israyil who was caught in the crossfire between police and the suspects.
The victim’s family and eyewitnesses said the police arrived after the incident but the policemen in plain clothes already denied involvement in the firing. Israyil received two bullet wounds on his back and was shifted to hospital in a critical condition.
In another incident, police recovered a large quantity of hazardous gutka from a motorcyclist in Jalilabad area of North Nazimabad. Rizvia police station was on routine patrolling when spotted a man identified as Irfan and recovered the packets of gutka from him. Irfan said the item belongs to Mahmood Bajwa aka Seraiki and he supplies on his behalf.
Mahmood Bajwa is a large gutka dealer who is also involved in illegal construction. Police have recovered a case against Irfan and are on the lookout for Mahmood Bajwa.
