The Sindh government has declared Wednesday, May 28, a public holiday in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer.
Youm-e-Takbeer marks the anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, in the Chagai region of Balochistan, carried out in response to India’s nuclear tests. These tests established Pakistan as the first nuclear-armed state in the Muslim world and the seventh globally. The day is observed nationwide as a symbol of national pride and strategic strength.
As per notification, all provincial government offices, including local councils and affiliated departments, will remain closed on that day.
Moreover, the Pakistan Stock Exchange has announced a holiday on May 28. The official notification was issued by the Chief Market Operations Officer.
