Yasir Khan lit up a sweltering evening in Multan with a sensational 87 off just 44 balls, powering Multan Sultans to their first victory of the season as they outclassed Lahore Qalandars by 33 runs, as reported by national media on Tuesday.
According to details, Yasir Khan’s explosive knock at the top of the order laid the perfect foundation, and with vital contributions from Iftikhar Ahmed, who finished unbeaten on 40 off 18, the Sultans posted a mammoth 228, the highest total ever recorded in a PSL game at Multan.
The hosts never let up after their electric start. Yasir and Mohammad Rizwan launched an early assault, targeting Shaheen Afridi, Zaman Khan, and Haris Rauf. Yasir plundered Zaman for three sixes and a four in one over, while Rizwan hammered 20 off Rauf, helping the Sultans race to 79 in the powerplay.

Though Asif Afridi briefly stemmed the flow by removing Rizwan, Yasir continued the charge, raising his fifty with a towering six before combining with Usman Khan to take down Daryl Mitchell. Iftikhar provided the finishing flourish, taking 14 off the final over bowled by Shaheen. The Qalandars’ pace trio, Shaheen, Haris, and Zaman, were taken apart, leaking 119 runs in just eight overs.
In reply, Lahore Qalandars never matched the intensity required to chase such a towering target. Fakhar Zaman offered early hope with a rapid 32 off 14, smashing 30 off Willey and clearing the ropes against Bracewell. But his promising start ended with a top-edge off Ubaid Shah, brilliantly caught by Josh Little.

A 36-run stand between Abdullah Shafique and Mitchell offered a flicker of resistance, but wickets kept falling as the required rate ballooned. Ubaid led the bowling effort with three wickets, including the crucial scalp of Billings, who was looking dangerous before top-edging a heave to midwicket.
Despite Sikandar Raza’s late fireworks, he reached a 27-ball fifty in the final over—the result was never in doubt. Multan’s bowlers held firm to seal a comprehensive win, giving their home fans plenty to cheer about as the Sultans finally got their campaign underway in style.
