Villa Vie’s residential cruise ship has finally embarked on its around-the-world voyage from Belfast, setting sail on Monday after a dramatic four-month delay.
Operated by Odyssey, the cruise is scheduled to visit 425 destinations across 147 countries during its inaugural tour. Passengers will experience life aboard a floating condominium, equipped with all the amenities of a traditional cruise, as they journey through Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America, and Africa.
Villa Vie, a 30-year-old ship, had been docked in Belfast, Northern Ireland, due to mechanical and certification issues. However, it has now departed and is cruising through the Irish Sea. The ship’s next destination after Belfast remains unconfirmed.
Onboard, residents can enjoy a range of luxury amenities, from fine dining to spa treatments. The ship boasts three restaurants, five bars and lounges, a spa, fitness center, library, and medical facility, as reported by CNN.
For culinary enthusiasts, there is also an interactive culinary center offering cooking classes. Residents can take part in golf simulations and outings as well.
Despite the perception that luxury cruises are often unaffordable, rates begin at $89 per person per day for an interior cabin. Annual rental options are available, offering long-term residency at significantly lower costs compared to other residential cruise ships.
