KARACHI: The Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that work has already started on a Rs. 3 billion project to upgrade the Counter Terror Department (CTD) Sindh and bring it at par with the international standards.
The IG Sindh said that the upgradation process of the CTD would be completed in 3 months for which the Sindh government had already approved funds of Rs.3 billion.
In the first phase, he said, the IT department of CTD was being made secure and compatible with international institutions, for which latest software were being purchased and services of highly skilled IT experts were being hired.
IG Ghulam Nabi Memon said that in order to ensure foolproof security of CTD officers, bulletproof vehicles were also being purchased, adding that most effective measures were being taken make CTD offices as safe as possible against any terror threat.
Besides this, he said, the residences of officers and employees of every rank of CTD would also get fool-proof security, as part of which, dedicated complexes were being built for all CTD offices including Karachi. He said CTD police station, offices and residences of employees will also be made within the same complex.
