KARACHI: In a disturbing incident, a mother allegedly killed her newborn baby after throwing her down from the top floor of a building.
The tragic incident occurred in Liaquatabad No. 4 when the woman threw the infant girl, who was born two days ago, from the sixth floor of their building and killed her.
The minor victim’s uncle lodged a complaint and told police that the girl was thrown from the top of their apartment. Police said the woman has been taken into custody and further investigation has started.
The police said that the woman Sana is addicted to drugs and has been shifted to the police station. Police said the woman seemed to be of unsound mental health due to her statements.
Police added the woman will be examined by a doctor and a psychiatrist will be consulted. Police said the woman was divorced a few years ago.
Supermarket police have registered a case of the incident. Local residents confirmed the woman as the mother of the girl. The neighbours told police that the girl was born two days ago.
Police said the medical examination of the woman will be conducted on Monday to confirm if she was the mother of the girl. The DNA of the newborn girl has been obtained.
