KARACHI: In another tragic outcome of a street crime incident, a woman and her son were shot at and injured during a robbery bid in Karachi’ Federal B. area, according to police.
According to details, the incident took place in the Federal B area Block-20 where mother and son were injured by armed men outside their house for resisting a robbery.
A police spokesperson claimed that the suspects riding on a motorcycle intercepted the victims who were coming from Karachi Sarafa Bazar after purchasing gold. The dacoits tried to snatch valuables from them.
The woman and son tried to resist robbery upon which the suspects opened fire at them and ran away after snatching gold ornaments. The victims were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The police have said that the condition of the mother is out of danger while the son’s condition was critical who received bullet wounds. The city police registered a case and started an investigation to arrest the suspects.
On January, 28-year-old recently married man, identified as Shahrukh, was shot dead by a lone robber upon resistance on Kashmir Road on Jan 12.
SSP-East Qamar Raza Jiskani had said that two women, said to be the mother and sister of the victim, got off from a rickshaw outside their home, where a lone armed mugger, who was following them, tried to snatch their gold ornaments. In the meantime, Shahrukh came to open the door and the mugger fired at him and fled.
The victim died on the spot. The CCTV footage of the incident had later gone viral on social media, prompting calls for the arrest of the culprit.
