ISLAMABAD: A Lady Health Worker in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decried increased police harassment for raising the matter of her son’s murder.
In a conversation with MM news, the woman also claimed that her National Identity Card (NIC) has been blocked and doubts are being raised on her nationality despite being a Pakistani citizen.
The woman said she worked as a Lady Health Worker in Swabi district and received salaries will 2014. The death of her son was being termed was termed a suicide, but an inquiry later proved that he was actually murdered.
The woman decided to pursue the case and submitted an application to arrest the perpetrators. However, police did not take any action and instead started to threaten her.
The woman submitted a petition in the District Court, Islamabad High Court, and Supreme Court of Pakistan to conduct an inquiry over her son’s murder. The Supreme Court ruled in her favour and ordered an inquiry but ever since then the police have turned against her.
She said that her NIC had been blocked and doubts are being raised about the nationality. She added that she was born in the country but was being declared an Afghan national. She expressed concerns that police were on the lookout for her and wanted to send her to a mental asylum.
The woman appealed that she should be given an opportunity to prove her Pakistani nationality, adding that she has documents but her credentials have been erased from the records. She urged Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice and provide her justice.
