A woman was beaten to death by her husband along with in-laws over late dinner in Kot Sultan village Korywali, Layyah.
According to a report in Dawn, the woman named Parveen Bibi was tortured by her husband Muhammad Yusuf, along with his brothers Muhammad Ejaz, Muhammad Younis, and Nadar for the delay in the preparation of food.
Abdul Majeed, Parveen’s uncle, filed a complaint with the Kot Sultan local police, leading to the registration of a murder case.
The first information report (FIR) claims that Parveen Bibi was severely beaten with clubs by the accused, rendering her unconscious. In serious condition, she was moved from the tehsil headquarters hospital to the district headquarters hospital and then to Nishtar Hospital in Multan, where her injuries ultimately claimed her life.
Complainant Majeed said a postmortem examination was conducted after her death.
Officer Asadur Rehman of the Layyah District Police Bureau promised that the culprits would soon be apprehended, stating that violence against women would not be accepted and that a special team had been assembled to look into the matter.
