The onset of winter hails the arrival of traditional winter sweets. Out of the many Pakistani winter staples, the one that tops the list for most people has now become ‘Anjeer Ka Halwa’.
Anjeer Halwa, also known as Figs Halwa is an amazing Indian dessert recipe that has become increasingly popular among Karachites.
Located near Nazimabad number 3 area, New Al Mehran is famous for its sweets. Talking to M.M News, the staff member said that they have to serve this sweet dish for six months. It’s the far more famous halwa after Gajar and Loki halwas.
The owners make halwa by frying the cinnamon stick and green cardamom with overnight-soaked figs, which are chopped and then fried in ghee. Later, the water in which the figs were soaked is added along with sugar and khoya.
The owners include their own desi khoya in the process of making the halwa. They top halwa with mixed dry fruits creating an aesthetically pleasing dessert recipe.
This halwa is a must-try for people who are fond of desserts or halwa in general. The sweet bakers sell Anjeer Ka Halwa for just Rs1300 kg.
