The Pakistani Embassy in Oman conducted an online public forum where Ambassador Syed Naveed Safdar addressed various concerns related to visa issuance.
During the discussion, attendees presented a range of issues, prompting the ambassador to provide guidance for their resolution.
He refuted claims of a total visa ban on Pakistani nationals, clarifying that while Oman has not entirely ceased visa issuance for Pakistanis, many categories are presently suspended.
The ambassador assured that the process of issuing visas will gradually recommence after Eid, advising applicants to confirm visa availability prior to making any payments or undergoing medical examinations.
Ambassador Safdar cautioned against engaging with agents for visa applications, stressing that visa decisions are solely the prerogative of the Omani government, independent of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its embassy.
He also addressed the challenges faced by Pakistani prisoners in Oman, particularly concerning passport renewals hindered by issues related to fingerprint and biometric verification.
He confirmed that efforts are being made to acquire portable biometric machines to alleviate these challenges.
Furthermore, he encouraged Pakistanis residing in Oman to remain vigilant regarding the expiration dates of their passports and visas, urging them to initiate renewal processes as soon as the final year commences.
In response to concerns about parking difficulties at the embassy, he explained that the embassy operates from a rented facility, which results in limited space.
He also called on Pakistanis to report any instances of corruption at the embassy for prompt action.
The ambassador concluded by warning against misleading information circulating on social media regarding visa bans and assured that the embassy provides updates as soon as new batches of passports arrive from Pakistan.
