The family of the victims of the Karsaz accident has reportedly forgiven Natasha Iqbal, the accused in the case. However, the key question remains whether the state will release her without punishment or hold her accountable despite the settlement with the affected parties.
According to reports, the son and daughter of the deceased Imran Arif will submit their affidavits in court during today’s hearing on a bail petition filed by Natasha Iqbal. They will also present a No Objection Certificate for the bail petition, which could pave the way for Natasha’s release from jail.
Imran Arif and his daughter, Amna Arif, were killed in the fatal accident, while several others were injured. The investigation revealed that Natasha was driving without a local license at the time of the accident, leading the police to include Section 322. Initially, the case included Section 320, which pertains to accidental homicide.
Section 322 covers the offense of causing death through criminal negligence, also known as “culpable homicide” but without premeditation or intention. Earlier reports suggested that, due to Section 322, Natasha could face lengthy imprisonment even if the victims’ families settle the case outside of court.
It is also pertinent to note that the accused was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the accident, as confirmed by her medical report. However, since Natasha comes from a high-profile and wealthy family, there is widespread skepticism about whether justice will be served. There is a common perception in Pakistan that wealth and influence can affect legal outcomes. It remains to be seen what will transpire in the case of Natasha Iqbal.
