ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday shared that he would isolate himself in quarantine centre for five days after returning from a trip to China.
The foreign minister said he is absolutely fine and is decided to self-isolate himself by taking precautionary measures to send a message. Qureshi had visited China along with President Dr Arif Alvi on a two-day official visit.
The foreign minister also revealed that after isolating himself he would get his tests conducted related to the disease.
“I am completely healthy but a message needs to be given that we should follow the guidance provided by our experts,” he said in a press conference later on Tuesday. “I’m not doing this for myself, but for the people surrounding me. I am playing a responsible role and we should all do the same.”
Speaking about his trip to China, the foreign minister said the Chinese leadership had thanked Pakistan for the “emotional support at a difficult time”. He said the Chinese leadership apprised him that Pakistan stood by China at a difficult time and now the country was ready to support them
The foreign minister said China offered Pakistan its expertise, medical supplies, including testing kits, protective gear and medical equipment. He said Pakistan should”acknowledge that this challenge is of a global nature, and people should follow the government’s instruction without any criticism.
FM Qureshi urged the nation to unite in the battle against coronavirus and instructed people to follow the directions of health experts in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
“We cannot fight (coronavirus) if we are divided as a nation. We will succeed if we fight together, when the federal government, provincial governments, laymen and institutions work together,” he said.
