Haris Rauf, Pakistan’s prominent fast bowler, has conveyed his assurance regarding his fitness in anticipation of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to commence on Wednesday in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The pacer, who recently faced an injury concern during the tri-nation series involving New Zealand and South Africa, has returned to training and is optimistic about participating in Pakistan’s opening match against New Zealand.
During a media interaction following a practice session, Rauf confirmed that he is making a good recovery and has already resumed bowling.
“I am feeling better than before. I have practiced for two days and bowled today,” he remarked. “I am content with my fitness and do not experience any pain; however, the final decision regarding my participation against New Zealand lies with the management.”
Rauf had sustained a muscular sprain in the lower chest wall during Pakistan’s initial match of the tri-series against New Zealand, leading to his replacement by left-arm fast bowler Akif Javed for the remainder of the series.
Nevertheless, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) clarified that this replacement was temporary, and Rauf is anticipated to be fully fit for the Champions Trophy.
The 30-year-old fast bowler also discussed Pakistan’s bowling strategy for the forthcoming tournament, highlighting the team’s diverse attack that includes both pace and spin options.
“Our bowling unit is not restricted to just one spinner. We also have Khushdil Shah and Agha Salman, who can provide spinning options based on the conditions,” he noted.
