MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said has said the PTI government and its allies will defeat a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly.
Addressing a press conference in Multan, the foreign minister said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has constitutionally accepted Imran Khan as the country’s prime minister by announcing to bring in a no-confidence motion against him.
“Now it is clear that when Bilawal said he will bring a no-confidence motion, it means he has constitutionally accepted Imran Khan as prime minister,” said the prime minister. “Now he should stop calling an elected prime minister as selected,” he added.
He said the no-confidence motion vindicated his stance that the PDM was an “unnatural alliance” as the parties were not united on any position, referring to the PDM’s changing stances on the issue of resignations and the long march to Islamabad.
He said Pakistan wants to establish friendly ties with its neighbors as per its foreign policy. Pakistan will establish good relations with the Biden administration, he announced.
Qureshi urged the new US administration of President Joe Biden to recognise that Pakistan and India have changed in the last four years and any engagement and relations should be developed on the new ground realities.
He said there is a harmony between US President Joe Biden and the Pakistani government’s policies as they are similar to each other. “The new US administration will soon realise that India has changed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it is no more a democratic country,” he maintained, adding voices are also being raised within India.
The foreign minister said Kashmiris are facing Indian brutalities in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir while minorities are finding themselves unsafe in India.
He said based on this new reality, the PTI government hoped to engage with the new US administration based on a “new approach and new guidelines”.
