Records of U.S. military personnel who have identified as transgender are being corrected to reflect their gender at birth, as reported by international media.
According to the foreign news agency Reuters, former U.S. President Donald Trump had made it clear that there would be only two genders (male and female) in the country.
This also indicated the removal of several transgender personnel from the U.S. military who had changed their gender. Subsequently, a directive was issued suggesting various measures to initiate the process of removing transgender soldiers.
The 14-page memo instructs commanders to update all personnel records according to the gender assigned at birth. The memo also calls for the implementation of other measures aimed at terminating the employment of transgender soldiers.
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court allowed the Pentagon to enforce a ban on the employment of transgender individuals in the military. The Pentagon will now begin removing those transgender soldiers who do not resign voluntarily. All such personnel were given a deadline until June 6.
Notably, there are currently 4,240 transgender personnel in the U.S. military and National Guard. These recruitments were made during the Biden administration, which had allowed transgender individuals to join the military.
