Pizza Hut has become the latest target of a boycott campaign over Israel’s genocidal military offensive in the Gaza Strip that began after the deadly Hamas attack on the Jewish nation on October 7, 2023.
Social media users have urged people to boycott Pizza Hut after the Western fast-food chain’s Israeli franchise provided free meals to Israeli military bases.
On Friday, January 19, 2024, Pizza Hut’s Israel Franchise took to Instagram and posted a picture of two Israeli soldiers posing with several free pizza meals.
The post infuriated social media users, who took to comments and urged people to boycott the pizza chain accused of taking a pro-Israel stance in the ongoing war.
However, it is interesting to note that this is not the first time that the pizza chain has faced calls for a boycott.
The only places it was published were Facebook pages in Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and the Palestinian Authority. Haaretz checked and did manage to find the apology on the official Pizza Hut Facebook page, but not in its timeline.
Pizza Hut Israel said the post was meant to be funny and to advertise its delivery service. However, at the behest of the international management, it decided to delete it.
It should be noted that more and more people are starting to boycott certain companies to support Palestine and Gaza and stop giving money to the Israeli army.
People all over the world are boycotting companies to ask for a lasting stop to the fighting between the Israeli army and Hamas forces. They also want freedom for people in Palestine and Gaza.
Right now, the main companies being boycotted are McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Disney. These companies have been chosen because they’ve given money to Israel or publicly supported it.
