Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal of Saudi Arabia, widely known as the “Sleeping Prince,” recently marked his 36th birthday while remaining in a coma that has persisted for nearly twenty years.
The prince has been unconscious since 2005, following a severe brain injury sustained in a car accident in London. Since then, he has relied on life support, including a ventilator and a feeding tube, with minimal change in his condition. In 2019, there were brief and limited signs of responsiveness—his fingers moved, and his head shifted slightly—but no significant progress has been reported since.
Prince Al-Waleed is currently receiving care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he is under the constant supervision of a dedicated medical team. His parents, Prince Khaled bin Talal and Princess Reema bint Talal, remain steadfast in their hope and faith.
Despite cautious assessments from the medical community, the prince’s family continues to believe in the possibility of recovery. Prince Khaled has previously expressed his refusal to discontinue life support, citing his trust in divine will. Princess Reema has also spoken publicly about sensing her son’s presence and spirit.
