Why incomplete reports of HEC-& search committee for VC candidates in KU were submitted?

Azmat Khan by Azmat Khan
February 20, 2022

KARACHI: The matter of appointment of a permanent vice-chancellor in Karachi University went to court after alleged delay and forgery by the search committee, after which the court ordered the search committee to appoint a permanent vice-chancellor. Investigate the required data including academic information of the Vice-Chancellor candidates and submit the report.

After which Abdul Qadir Rajput, the then convener of the search committee, obtained incomplete information from the Higher Education Commission instead of conducting detailed investigation and by submitting incomplete information to the court by referring to them, less, vague, irrelevant magazines and non- In addition to the authoritative magazines, a misleading report was submitted to the court by including articles published after June 29, 2019.

According to the report, Dr. Pirzada Jamal’s 59 research papers out of 80, Dr. Jameel H Kazmi 34 out of 111, Dr. Kamal S Arif, 19 out of 68, Dr. Monis Ahmar 13 out of 97, Dr. Yousuf Khushk, 35 out of 51, Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi 35 out of 59, Dr. Rukhsar Ahmed 15 out of 88, Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat 15 out of 40 were verified and the report was submitted.

In this report, an attempt was made to conceal the facts by not providing complete information about the research articles. He submitted the report without filing till and in order to save himself in it he wrote in the last paragraph of the report that if any information is still left then it can be investigated.

However, the court decision clearly states that the academic record of each applicant applying for the position of VC in the university should be verified. Despite this, the Search Committee and the Higher Education Commission did not present the facts, but the same process is likely to be repeated once a detailed decision is reached, in which all the papers that Khalid Iraqi has published in the journals published by VC KU as the caretaker will be subtracted.

It should be noted that the papers of Khalid Iraqi which he has published after the advertisement for the Vice-Chancellor of the university will not be counted, which is not on the list of Magazines certified by the Higher Education Commission, while Khalid Mahmoud Iraqi holds the record of writing five research papers together with the highest administrative responsibilities. However, Khalid Iraqi, as Vice-Chancellor, was also the Editor-in-Chief of a magazine published by Karachi University. Due to this, he is not eligible to publish his papers in Karachi University magazines. On the contrary, he published pamphlets, but also pamphlets in various fields in which he was not an expert. For example, Khalid Iraqi’s name was included in the pamphlets of the journalism department, while He has no experience in this field.
