Hijab-clad students who celebrated the Onam festival in a viral video, have been facing backlash.
In the viral video, some girl students are seen dancing on the stage to the tunes of a Malayalam song, while wearing hijabs. As they dance some other Hijab-donning students are also seen tapping their feet during Onam celebrations at a local educational institution.
The seculars are calling this b Oman!!
Another crude attempt to demonize a pious Hindu festival!!! https://t.co/Xwo4OFvsxa

The video has drawn the wrath of Muslim organisations. AIMPLB or the All India Muslim Personal Law Board members objected to girls dancing while wearing the hijab. According to the justification offered, dancing is reportedly “undermining the objective of the Hijab.”

The girl who danced in a viral video was reportedly forcibly thrown out of the school. It was shared by an unverified Twitter handle, Jian Obese. According to this user, those who took the girls out of school are saying – how dare you. Who will come to marry you after doing such a thing, do not feel ashamed.
Onam is a Malayali festival, not a Hindu-Muslim
A user on Onam tweeted, “Onam is being celebrated by hijab-clad Muslim girls in a school in Kerala. Onam is the harvest festival of the people of Kerala. Not just Hindus, as claimed by the Hindu right. !”
why are Malayalees on TL so adamant about #Onam ??!
why can’t they celebrate this festival as prescribed by shukla, mishra, sharma etc and admit Onam is foreign thing from Oman and favorite festival of NaMo..
