The hashtag #BoycottCafeAylanto is gaining traction on social media platform X following the arrest of Umar Dar, purportedly from the renowned restaurant located in Lahore.
But who is driving this trend?
Cafe Aylanto, a well-known establishment in Lahore, finds itself amid controversy as Umar Dar, the brother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Usman Dar, was reportedly apprehended at the restaurant. In a circulating video on platform X, Umar Dar’s daughter, Laiba Dar, alleges that her father was “kidnapped” from the restaurant with the collaboration of its management.

In the video, Laiba contends that Café Aylanto played a facilitating role for the police in her father’s arrest. She earnestly implores the public to boycott the restaurant in response to this incident.

It’s noteworthy that Umar Dar had been arrested just a week prior from a restaurant in Lahore. The police assert that Umar Dar is wanted in connection with five cases involving incitement and anti-state sloganeering, with nine cases pending against him from May.
In a video message, Umar Dar’s mother, Rehana Dar, makes the serious claim that her son was abducted to prevent him from contesting in the upcoming general election.
