Pakistanis spend a lot of time reacting to religious scholars regarding issues of their spirituality. What is unfortunate is that apart from religious clerics who use others as cannon fodder for their political objectives, motivational speakers have increasingly made inroads to benefit financially from the insecurities and existential angst of the people.
Social media and the monetisation associated with it allows such speakers to lucratively sell their wares just as unscrupulous merchants would regale their audiences with exotic tales in the Middle Ages. Since morning the name of Sahil Adeem, who is a public speaker, and some quotes attached to him has been trending on social media.
He has recently been banned to deliver any type of motivational speech in any government university. Some people support what he says and some people oppose his idea and some are happy that he got banned.
Sahil Adeem
Sahil Adeem is a behavioural trainer and public speaker, however, he is famous for his public speaking.
His career kicked off at SZABIST in March 2016. He is quite famous on social media for his opinions ranging from critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and worldly Islamic examples.
Adeem composes several strategies and consulting for corporates worldwide, including America, Canada, Dubai, Pakistan, and Denmark. Besides him being a public speaker, Adeem is the founder of a training company named ‘Source Code’ which aims to reset the vision of the youth and attempts to make them realize the real purpose of their life as defined by Almighty Allah.
Banned
Sahil Adeem refused to submit an apology to become eligible to speak in public sector universities.
Why was he banned
It is mainly due to the course of his speeches and how vocal he is that he was recently banned from speaking in public universities by the government.
As per different posts on social media, he was barred from delivering speeches in government universities.
Sahil Adeem’s stance
In a statement released on his official page, Sahil Adeem said, “I am assuming that you’ve confused me with some ’ motivational speaker you’re used to listening to which you call in your castles to amuse yourselves. I was born a free man and I bow only to my Lord who created me to speak the truth’. The only thing im sorry for is how low our standards of thought are and plight of my people who cannot see it and vote for people like you.”
Social media users and reaction:
