Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed his 34-member cabinet after the fall of the PTI government. Supporters of the PTI have been raising questions on social media about the cases against the ministers in the new government and their academic credentials.
Let’s see which minister has been appointed by the new government instead of which one.
1) Foreign Minister
After the prime minister, the most important post is considered to be that of a foreign minister. The new government has decided to make PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto the foreign minister. However, he did not take oath in the initial cabinet, so Hina Rabbani Khar has been partially assigned the responsibility of Minister of State for External Affairs. Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been holding the post of Foreign Minister in the PTI government.
2) Minister of Interior
At the national level, the interior ministry is considered very important and during the PTI era, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad was the interior minister while the new government has given the portfolio of the interior minister to former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah.
3) Poverty alleviation and social security
The PTI government focused more on welfare work and various programs were introduced under the auspices of the government. In the previous government, Dr. Sania Nishtar was made responsible for welfare work while the new government has assigned this responsibility to Shazia Atta Murree.
4) Ministry of Health
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has faced serious health problems since its inception and coronavirus has doubled the government’s concerns, with the government appointing Dr. Faisal Sultan as Special Assistant for Health, while the new government Qadir Patel has been given this important ministry.
5) Ministry of Information
Access to information on government affairs and national affairs is the responsibility of the Information Minister and in the previous government, this duty was performed by Chaudhry Fawad Hussain while the present government has assigned this responsibility to Maryam Aurangzeb.
6) Ministry of Finance
The Ministry of Finance is also very important for running the economic affairs of the country and the previous government has given this responsibility to Shaukat Tarin while the present government has given this responsibility to Miftah Ismail.
7) Defense matters
In the PTI government, Pervez Khattak has been appointed as the Defense Minister while in the current government, Khawaja Asif has been appointed as the Defense Minister.
8) Ministry of Commerce
Abdul Razzaq Dawood was the finance adviser in the PTI government and the new government has placed this responsibility on the shoulders of Naveed Qamar.
9) Railways
PTI had given the responsibility of running the wheel of Pakistan Railways to Azam Swati while the new government has appointed Khawaja Saad Rafique as Railway Minister.
10) Maritime Affairs
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had given the portfolio of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs to Ali Zaidi while Faisal Sabzwari has been given this responsibility in the new government.
11) Human rights
Dr. Shireen Mazari in the previous government and Ehsanul Haq Mazari in the current government has been given this ministry.
12) National Food Security
Syed Fakhar Imam has been replaced by Tariq Bashir Cheema in the Ministry of National Food Security.
13) Narcotics control
Shahzain Bugti has replaced Ijaz Shah as Minister of Narcotics Control.
14) Ministry of Education
Rana Tanveer Hussain has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Education in place of Shafqat Mahmood.
15) Ministry of Communications
Fazal-ur-Rehman’s son Asad Mahmood has been made Federal Minister for Communications in place of Murad Saeed.
Others
Ahsan Iqbal Asad Umar has been replaced by Syed Khurshid Shah as Federal Minister for Water Resources, Syed Murtaza Mehmood as Federal Minister for Industry and Production, and Sajid Hussain as Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
Abid Hussain Bhayo has been given the portfolio of the Ministry of Privatization. Abdul Wasi has been given the portfolio of the Ministry of Housing and Works and Mufti Abdul Shakur has been given the portfolio of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony in place of Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri. In place of Shehryar Afridi, Federal Minister for Travel, Aminul Haque has been given the portfolio of IT and Telecommunication in his place.
Aisha Ghaus Pasha and Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju will be the Minister of State and Qamar Zaman Kaira will be the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while Engineer Amir Muqam and Aun Chaudhry have been added as advisors.
