The social media messaging app WhatsApp has now introduced ads in the “Status” feature as well, aimed at helping businesses increase their reach to the public, as reported by international media.
According to reports, WhatsApp is preparing to create more revenue opportunities on its popular messaging platform, as its latest Android beta update introduces two highly anticipated features: Status Ads and Promoted Channels.
Both features are designed to help businesses and creators expand their reach. According to WABetaInfo, these features are currently available in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.21.11 for a limited number of Android beta testers.
The Status Ads feature has been introduced similar to Instagram Stories ads. Through Status Ads, business accounts will be able to show sponsored content in users’ Status feeds.
These ads will appear between updates from friends and family but will be labeled as “Sponsored” so that users can distinguish between personal posts and promotional content. Additionally, users will have the option to block advertisers, preventing their ads from appearing in the future.
