Shweta Singh, a student of Pacific Dental College, Udaipur, committed suicide on the night of Thursday, July 24. She was a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, as reported by Indian media.
According to details, only 25 years old, Shweta had dreamt of becoming a dentist and making a career in the medical field, but suddenly she chose a path that shook everyone to the core. Another medical student was also staying in the same hostel room where Shweta lived. When she returned to the room late at night, she was shocked to find Shweta Singh hanging from the ceiling fan.
The roommate screamed, drawing the attention of other girls in the hostel, who rushed to the room and were left stunned. The police were then informed. Shweta was immediately taken down from the fan and rushed to the hospital, but the doctors declared her dead.
A suicide note was recovered from Shweta’s room after her death, revealing several matters. In her suicide note, Shweta wrote that many students had been passed in exchange for money. Even students who had never even seen the college were passed. Shweta wrote that one of their batchmates had become an intern two to three months ago, and their careers had been completely ruined.
Shweta wrote that students are failed at will and new batches are formed. If students pay money, it’s fine; otherwise, they are failed. Shweta Singh also named two teachers. She wrote that Naini Ma’am and Bhagwat Sir were torturing her.
She could no longer tolerate their drama and asked to put them in jail. She added that if there is justice in India, then Bhagwat should be permanently jailed, so that he too can feel what it’s like to be a student. “I know how much justice can be expected in India. I wanted to be free from this tension, and now I am. The rest, God will see”. After writing all this, Shweta ended her life.
