The Sindh government has canceled holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr; however, these holidays have only been canceled for transport officers, as reported by national media.
According to a report by ARY News on Sunday, the Sindh government has canceled the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, but this will only apply to transport officers, who will continue to perform their duties during Eid.
Sindh’s Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, stated that the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays for the staff of the Transport and Mass Transit Department have been canceled so that the public, traveling to celebrate Eid with their loved ones, can avoid additional fares.
He mentioned that the Sindh government’s effort is to ensure that the public faces no difficulties in traveling during Eid-ul-Fitr. Therefore, transport officers in the province will carry out their duties for the convenience of the public.
The Minister of Transport advised the public not to pay any extra fare. He emphasized that immediate action will be taken against the collection of additional fares.
It is worth noting that during festivals, especially every year during Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, complaints are received from passengers regarding transporters charging arbitrary and excessive fares.
