Neil Nitin Mukesh recently addressed the controversy surrounding his past exchange with Shah Rukh Khan at an award function, where he was seen telling SRK to “shut up.”
According to a report by Indian media, speaking to Hindi Rush, Neil clarified that he would never disrespect a senior actor, emphasizing that the event had various factors at play.
Neil, son of singer Nitin Mukesh and grandson of legendary Mukesh, also opened up about people mocking his name. He believes they lack the understanding to respect its legacy. “My family knows its value, and that’s enough for me. Outsiders won’t get it,” he said.
Earlier, Neil’s controversy with Shah Rukh started after SRK asked him during an award function, “Your name is Neil Nitin Mukesh. All of these are first names; where is your surname?” The question angered Neil Nitin Mukesh.
SRK was supposedly joking on stage, and when Neil asked for permission to respond, SRK said, “This is the insulting podium, go for it.” Neil replied, “That is an insult to me.” He was visibly offended as he told Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan to “shut up.” The incident sparked anger among the fans of the actors involved.
During the conversation, Neil also spoke about his father’s dedication to preserving Mukesh’s legacy, saying he is proud to continue it. “It’s not just about a famous name but the emotions behind it,” he concluded.
