A few phrases attributed to Prime Minister Imran Khan started flashing on the news channels on Friday evening. It was reported that the Prime Minister had said these things in the high-level meeting of his party. This conversation attributed to Imran Khan is interesting and noteworthy.
According to the reports, the Prime Minister expressed his displeasure that some quarters were looking for ways to end the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif. Imran Khan said this is highly immoral as the former prime minister was sentenced to life imprisonment on the grounds of corruption.
The report further stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed his ministers to expose the corruption scandals of Nawaz Sharif and his party to the public. “How can a convicted person become prime minister of the country for a fourth time?” Imran Khan said during the meeting.
Now the question is, why did the Prime Minister reacted to such media reports? For this we need to know about the alleged formulas which are selling like hot samosas in the black market of rumors these days. If you wish, you can use the term conspiracy theories instead of formulas.
The first theory
Three different parties have formulated three different plans in this regard. The first plan or formula is related to PML-N. According to the theory, the PML-N will be given an open field in the next elections and no attempt will be made to stop them or to support any party (especially PTI).
According to this plan, Mian Shahbaz Sharif will be given some space and organize his party to win the next elections in Punjab. If he performs well then Punjab will be handed over to him and will also get government or big share in the Centre.
We all know that Shahbaz Sharif is in favor of reconciliation with the ruling forces. He never takes a hard line and keeps his doors open. As a pragmatic politician, Shahbaz Sharif knows that it is not possible to gain power after a clash with the Establishment.
It is said that most of the potential members of the PML-N are in favor of the conciliatory policy. Their compulsion, however, is that they cannot announced it publicly because their success is not possible without a PML-N ticket.
The biggest obstacle in the way of this formula is Nawaz Sharif. He is not in favor of retiring or sitting in the corner for the next few years. Mian Nawaz Sharif says that first of all I should be made relevant and important again. Nawaz Sharif says his lifelong ineligibility should be over and can do active politics, then many important state decisions regarding the future will have to be made with his opinion.
A section of lawyers say that the case in the Supreme Court should go from another angle and be heard by a bench larger than the previous bench i.e. at least seven members the new decision would be in favor of Nawaz Sharif. There is speculation that a major bar association will take the issue to the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court Bar or a High Court Bar Association.
It is important to understand here that Mian Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court for life and the case against him was taken to the accountability court, where he was sentenced. These are two different things, lifelong disqualification from politics, after which the Supreme Court barred him from the post of party chief, while imprisonment and fine is a separate matter from the accountability court.
If the Supreme Court rules in a case and then rejects the appeal for reconsideration, then consider that all future avenues and doors are closed for that person. On the contrary, the case against the decision of the accountability court is Islam. Abad is pending in the High Court, the court can uphold this sentence and also remove it. However, in both the cases, it can be appealed in the Supreme Court.
On the contrary, the case against the decision of the accountability court is pending in the Islamabad High Court. The court can uphold the sentence and also quash it. However, in both cases there is an appeal to the Supreme Court.
There is only the decision of the accountability court against Maryam Nawaz, on which the appeal is being heard in the high court. If the decision of the accountability court is rejected from there, then Maryam Bibi can be free. According to the current legal position, Maryam Nawaz is barred from participating in politics for seven years. The decision came in 2017, meaning she will remain ineligible until 2024. This means that Maryam Nawaz will not be able to run in the next election.
According to this theory, Mian Nawaz Sharif is not satisfied with the clean chit of Maryam Bibi. The elder Sharif insisted that the stain on Maryam Nawaz should be erased. Some political circles also say: Mian Nawaz Sharif thinks that if he remains incompetent and Maryam Bibi becomes eligible then a regular political battle will break out in the family, in the case of Shahbaz Sharif vs Maryam Nawaz.
The question also arises as to why the ruling forces or the establishment felt the need to negotiate with Nawaz Sharif abroad. There are more than one answer. PML-N circles say that the deteriorating situation of country by Imran Khan’s government has left the powerful pro-Khan lobby deeply disappointed.
There is a growing sense among the ruling forces that the PTI has failed to run the government and with the passage of time, destruction is taking place in various sectors. For the few sectors that have improved, such as textile exports, etc., the Establishment thinks that this did not happen in view of government policy, but the post-Corona situation benefited them.
Another circle says that the ruling forces have not only disappointed by Imran Khan’s performance but he has also emerged as a stubborn, arbitrary, reckless and unwilling adventurer. A person who can unnecessarily make a big mess and lead the country into a major crisis. Perhaps it is being thought that the mistake made by Nawaz Sharif in 1990 can be made by Khan.
Third reason is that the Establishment never gives another election to anyone. If the party can failed to perform the party is not offered another victory. In this regard, the example of Ayub Khan is given, Bhutto Sahib and then especially General Musharraf who was in a very strong position in 2007. In a few months, the situation became such that things kept slipping from their hands and then they had to leave the government in disgrace.
Now it is necessary to meet the level playing field, it will be open for all, do whatever you can on your own strength, no one will come to help. This is the first formula or theory circulating in the market of rumors regarding the overthrow of Imran Khan’s government.
Remember that all these formulas, theories are alleged, i.e. not authentic, but part of the rumors. The second and third formulas are also in circulation, but what is that formula and what are the other ways to remove Prime Minister Imran Khan? We will discuss this in our next article.
