Scientists claim that they have come close to discovering the secret of what is going on in the human brain in the last moments of life.
The claim came as medical experts recorded the brain of an accidentally dying person using electroencephalography (EEG). The man who was recorded was 87 years old and had suffered a heart attack. This is the first time that scientists have recorded the activity of a dying human brain.
He said that the pattern of brain waves recorded at the time of this person’s death was similar to that of mental activity during dreaming, recollection, and meditation.
Research from Louisville University in the United States has shown that our brains can be active in the last moments of life and even after death.
Similarly, the way brain waves are recorded from a dying brain suggests that people see their lives pass before their eyes at the last minute. “We examined 900 seconds of brain activity at the time of death and focused on what happens to the brain 30 seconds before and 30 seconds after the heart stops beating,” the researchers said.

“A few moments before and a few moments after the heart stopped beating, we saw changes in various brain waves, such waves are part of the process of repeating memories, which indicates that in the last moments,” he said. The brain plays important life events like fast-forward footage.
“This discovery challenges our understanding of the end of life,” he said. It was the first case of its kind to be based on a single case, but researchers hope to be able to take it further.
