Pakistani veteran actor Firdous Jamal landed in hot water for calling popular showbiz star Mahira Khan an “old woman.”
During a recent appearance on a private TV channel, Firdous was asked about his previous comments suggesting that Mahira, one of Pakistan’s leading actresses, should no longer be cast as a heroine due to her age.
“I still stand by my statement. I simply stated the truth about her age—she is an old woman,” he remarked. “If people find her beautiful, that’s their opinion, but in my view, she is not.”
When the host mentioned that 90% of Pakistanis consider Mahira Khan beautiful, Firdous retorted, “If 90% of people are fools, that’s not my fault. Should I become a fool too?”
He continued by comparing Mahira unfavorably to iconic actresses like Elizabeth Taylor, Nargis Dutt, and Madhubala, questioning her standing in comparison.
Moreover, he criticized actor Humayun Saeed, saying that earning more money does not equate to being a good actor. He used a metaphor, saying that money should not be the measure of excellence, as even a prostitute can earn a lot of money.
