The Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council, Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi, has issued the guidelines for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for fasting (Fidya-e-Soam).
In a statement, the Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council stated that this year, Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for fasting should be at least 220 rupees per person, based on the price of wheat, while for barley, 450 rupees should be paid. For dates, 1650 rupees should be paid for Zakat al-Fitr and Fidya for fasting.
He explained that for raisins, 2500 rupees should be paid, and for dried dates (Munaqa), 5000 rupees should be paid for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for fasting.
The Chairman of the Ideological Council stated that philanthropists should pay Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for fasting according to their financial capacity. Sadqa-e-Fitr is obligatory for every slave and free person, male and female, Muslim.
According to the Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council, the Fidya for 30 days of fasting amounts to 6600 rupees based on wheat, 13,500 rupees based on barley, and 49,500 rupees based on dates. Similarly, for raisins, the amount is 75,000 rupees.
Chairman of Islamic Ideological council further stated that the Fidya for 30 days of fasting based on dried dates (Munaqa) is 150,000 rupees, explaining that the expiation for deliberately breaking a fast is to either fast for 60 consecutive days or feed 60 needy people two meals each.
He further stated that those using government-subsidized wheat flour can also pay 160 rupees for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for fasting.
