KARACHI: The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains in Karachi from August 11 to 14 under the influence of the fourth monsoon spell.
Weather analyst Jawad Memon said that the low-pressure system penetrating parts of the country has intensified into a depression and is likely to generate torrential rains in Karachi during the forecast period. According to Memon, the rain-bearing system is heading towards Sindh.
PMD chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said the city may see some light rain today afternoon, whereas moderate rain is expected after 5 pm. Sarfaraz said Karachi’s weather will remain humid during the day and there will be more rain at night, he said.
The forecast was also given for Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas.

According to the Department of Meteorology, there is a fear of urban flooding in many cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Peshawar from August 10 to 12.
The Meteorological Department has also issued a flood warning in the rivers of Kashmir, Balochistan, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Due to the rains, there is a risk of landslides in the hilly areas of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Guliyat, Murree, Chalas, Gilgit, and Hunza, Astor and Skardu.
After the rain in different cities of the country yesterday, the heat decreased. It rained heavily in Moro. Due to the heavy rain, the low-lying areas were flooded. Naseerabad, Dera Murad Jamali and its surroundings were affected by the heat wave.
