KARACHI: The administration started cracking down on the entrance of marriage halls without masks after the increase in the cases of coronavirus omicron in the Sindh capital.
Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon in his office reviewed the situation of the spread of coronavirus in his office. The meeting took notice of the violation of SOPs in marriage halls and decided to take effective measures to strictly enforce the SOPs allotted for marriage halls.
During the meeting, all the Deputy Commissioners gave a detailed briefing on the vaccination targets in their respective districts.
The meeting expressed dissatisfaction over the vaccination targets. It was decided that the Deputy Commissioners would expedite the vaccination in their respective districts and make concerted efforts to achieve the vaccination targets of the citizens.
The meeting took notice of the violation of SOPs in marriage halls and decided that Deputy Commissioners would form teams in their respective districts under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner for the implementation of SOPs in marriage halls and celebrations.
Teams along with police and Rangers will check the wedding halls and bind people and take necessary action to ensure implementation of SOPs.
The Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners to personally visit the marriage halls and compel the marriage hall management to take steps for the implementation of SOPs.

The meeting was attended by all Deputy Commissioners, all District Health Officers, representatives of Private Schools Association, Pakistan Rangers and Health Department officials, and others.
The meeting decided that the school administration would be bound for the vaccination of children above 12 years of age in schools. It was decided that non-cooperating schools would be closed.
