ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has said that he only wanted the elections to be held on time and according to the law.
According to the details, during the hearing of the case related to the return of the Tehreek-e-Insaf bat symbol, the Chief Justice remarked on Friday, “We have postponed the meeting of the Judicial Council for the PTI case. The 3-member bench of the Supreme Court will continue the hearing of the case today.”
The 3-member bench of the Supreme Court includes Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali. The head of the bench, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, said that when PTI came to ask for the date of the elections, they got the date in 12 days.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice said that you went to the Lahore High Court, a larger bench was formed there, and when you went to the Peshawar High Court, you got relief.
The Chief Justice said that according to Article 17, everyone has the right to form a party and vote. Article 25 calls for the uniform application of the law. During the hearing, Makhdoom Ali Khan read out the decision to return the bat sign and requested time till Monday.
PTI lawyer Hamid Khan was present in the courtroom while Barrister Ali Zafar was present through a video link from the Lahore Registry. The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing till Saturday after the arguments of Election Commission lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan were completed. Further hearing of the case regarding the return of the bat mark will be held today at 10 am.
