ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar has said that the Panama drama was staged against Nawaz Sharif.
While giving an interview with a private channel, Ishaq Dar said, “Nawaz Sharif has said that he will not do politics of revenge, if he comes to power, the narrative will be one of reconciliation, the aim of the PDM government was to save the country from default.”
He said that when Benazir Bhutto came to Pakistan in 2007, her appeal was in the High Court, she applied for final bail and not for protective bail in the court.
Ishaq Dar said that there has been a good working relationship with PPP, my personal wish was that all major political parties should form the government together, and we should include Pakistan in G20.
He said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari will meet in the near future, but the PML-N leader is currently busy with his legal matters. Ishaq Dar asked, “How did Nawaz Sharif give the date of the election. In what capacity should he give the date of the election? The sooner the elections are held, the better for us.”
The former finance minister said, “The Election Commission has to conduct clean and transparent elections, and no one is upset with Nawaz Sharif for not talking about the date of the election yet.”
Talking about the reception of PML-N, Ishaq Dar said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi could not come to welcome Nawaz Sharif due to personal compulsion. “Shahid Khaqan is the senior vice president of the party, he did not resign,” he said. Ishaq Dar added that the true value of the dollar at this time should be between Rs 240 and 250.
