ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Tuesday) has ruled out new lockdown restrictions in view of a rising novel coronavirus, saying that Pakistan cannot afford to go into a lockdown.
The Prime Minister expressed his views while chairing the federal cabinet meeting. A briefing was given to the cabinet members regarding an increase being witnessed in COVID-19 cases.

During the meeting, PM Imran asked provinces to ensure the implementation of the Trace, Test & Quarantine (TTQ) and smart lockdown strategies pertaining to the coronavirus.
The premier further said that there is a need to strictly implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), however, he ruled out possibilities to impose lockdown in the country.
“The government managed to stabilise the national economy after making efforts,” he said and the concerned authorities to make nationals aware of the precautionary measures. The cabinet members also held discussions on electoral reforms.
